Gameplay Actions and Strategies
Nerf
The antonym of buff. Players use this term to describe the weakening of agents, weapons, characteristics, or abilities.
One-shot
Refers to killing the enemy with one shot, usually with damage previously taken.
One tap
This means that with some weapons, such as the Vandal and Sheriff, just one shot to the head is enough to kill the opponent.
Pattern
This term can mean two things. First, standardized strategy that is usually associated with the defending team. Second, is 'planting for the pattern', which means setting up the spike in a specific place, which varies according to each map.
Perfect
This is when one team finishes off the other without any casualties, keeping all the players alive.
Pick
Getting a kill on a player out of position.
Pre-fire
Means to generate anticipation shots, in the hope of predicting where an enemy will be to kill them.
Retake
Working on the "retake" consists of organizing yourself, after arming the spike. This allows you to recapture the location given up to the enemy. Either due to being outnumbered or because of a pick your team has taken.
Rotate
"Rotate" or "rotate" is when the player has to leave his point to go to another, to help a friend, or to plant the spike. Don't confuse it with backup. Players can perform rotations individually.
Round
The same as "round" or "match".
Rush
This is a strategy adopted to carry out quick attacks. The idea of the rush is that nobody stops for reasons such as Molotov, bangs, and smokes. The attacking or defending team can carry out this strategy to surprise the opponent.
Agent Abilities and Gameplay Mechanics
Sentinel
Sentinels are characters that provide support to the team. Agents like Cypher, Killjoy, and Sage are capable of finding enemies on the map and slowing them down with their abilities.
Smoke
Smoke grenades are familiar from other games. In Valorant, some agents have abilities capable of obstructing opponents' vision, creating opportunities for more effective attacks and defenses.
Cooldown or CD
As in League of Legends, Valorant characters have cooldowns on some of their abilities.
TP
Teleportation is an Omen skill or a passage, as on the Bind map. It's normal to hear the acronym ao instead of the whole word.
TR
Stands for "terrorist" and comes from other games in the genre. It represents the team that is attacking.
TK
This is short for teamkill and is the act of inflicting damage on your friends.
Ultimate
Each character's main ability is Ultimate, or Ult for short. To charge it, all you have to do is achieve objectives, such as killing, planting, or disarming the spike, and collect the ultimate points, which are black spheres distributed around the map.
Sweep
The act of shooting through walls and objects. Some places on the map have materials that hit the other side when you shoot.
Walk
The word used to get the other player to walk with the shift key pressed. The tactic allows you to keep quiet and not attract the other team's attention.

AKA
This is the acronym for Abates, Kills, and Assists. Players use it to keep track of statistics during and after a match.
Buff
In the world of games, this word indicates improvements to agents, weapons, characteristics, or abilities.
Cheat
A cheater is a person who cheats by using third-party programs to gain an advantage in the game.
GG
Comes from "Good Game". Players use it after the game as a way to show sportsmanship.
Wallhack
This means that someone has installed a third-party program to gain an advantage. It's a cheat that allows you to see enemies even if they are behind many walls.
Now it is Time to Play
As you delve deeper into Valorant, mastering its unique terminology will enhance your gameplay and strategic skills. What´s more, each term helps you become a more proficient player. This includes pre-match preparations, in-game strategies, and post-match evaluations. By learning the roles and abilities of different Agents, you can make informed choices.
